Quality Image Search is a self-reliant image search engine that only indexes large images. By this, we mean that we don't use any other search engines to provide results and all images have to be a certain size before they appear in our index.
What it also means is that we find images other search engines may not have done.
Images over a certain size are allocated a High Definition rating based on the pixel count. For example, 1024x768 resolution has 786,432 pixels:
Minimum size: 250,000
500,000+ (Bronze)
1,000,000+ (Silver)
2,000,000+ (Gold)
Where possible, we extract the meta data from images. Professional applications such as Adobe Bridge can , but we offer it to you as you browse.
Meta data is information that has been embedded within the image and can contain a wide variety of information such as camera type, aperture, ISO values, copyright information or the author.
Image popularity rating is calculated by combining views and recency.

This site is family friendly and has a zero tolerance policy to frontal nudity.
Images considered provocative or that contain implied nudity will be censored and can be viewed only when Safe Search is off.
We encourage our user-base to report 
any images found that break this policy. When reporting an image, it will be immediately removed from the search results. Reported images will be reviewed and either removed or censored accordingly.
Despite improving technology, automated nudity sensors are not yet sophisticated enough to filter out all unsuitable imagery. All of our images are regularly checked for suitability and we will either remove or censor images according to the Nudity Policy.
Safe Search can be switched off in the preferences panel.
Finding large images is harder than finding images of any size. Therefore, our index will always be smaller than search engines without size limits.
However, the results will always contain high quality examples.

Our crawler works constantly to find more images.
Some images may appear to be duplicated. This is not unusual, but you may find that each example has a different resolution - perhaps suitable for different desktop backgrounds.
